Precise Biometrics participates at GSMA Mobile World Congress

Feb 16, 2010: Together with Sun Microsystems, Precise Biometrics is participating at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2010, the world’s largest annual mobile telecommunications event. In the Sun Micorsystems' booth, Precise Biometrics demonstrates a travel scenario that enables fast-lane service using fingerprint recognition and mobile phones.

The demo utilizes Precise Match-on-Card™ to perform an automated identity check for several airline services by using a fingerprint. These services are remote ticket purchase, automatic baggage drop, self-service boarding and baggage reconciliation. All services are secured by the use of a finger and show the possibility of a fully automated flow of passengers. The demo builds on SIM cards based on Sun Java Card technology as well as airport equipment from IER.

Jonas Andersson, head of Business Development at Precise Biometrics, is thrilled about the invitation from Sun Microsystems:

- There is an interest for a wide variety of smart card services that are enabled or enhanced by adding biometrics, and the power of doing this in combination with a technology that is already on vast use, such as the mobile phone.

In 2009, Precise Biometrics came in first place in the global SIMagine competition, held annually at the GSMA Mobile World Congress.

After the event, a video film of the demonstrated solution will be made available online.
