Precise Biometrics is again among the finalists in the global SIMagine contest that will be awarded at the GSMA World Mobile Congress, February 16-19 in Barcelona. The company’s contribution this year comprises a mobile aviation solution utilizing Precise Match-on-SIM™ which enables fast lane services through fingerprint recognition.
SIMagine is a global contest for professionals and academic participants seeking new innovative solutions for mobile communication and Java cards. The contest is arranged by Gemalto, the world’s leader in digital security, Sun Microsystems and Samsung.
Precise Biometrics is one of eight finalists, competing with other contributions from all around the world. Last year, Precise Biometrics was the runner up with the NFC-based Match-on-Card solution, Match-on-SIM.
This year Precise Biometrics presents a complete solution for airline travel, BioXpress - The Queue-less Travel Experience. BioXpress utilizes Match-on-Card for automated identity check supporting airline services through the SIM card. It enables remote ticket purchase, automatic baggage drop, self service boarding and baggage reconciliation. All these services are secured by automatic Match-on-Card biometric verification to enable a fully automated passenger flow.
In order to achieve this with a user-friendly approach, BioXpress relies on NFC and smart card webserver functionality in the SIM card.
Precise Match-on-Card™ is the process of storing and matching fingerprints on a smart card, in this case a SIM card. And as the technology is combined with contactless technologies, such as NFC, the fingerprint can be captured on an external sensor such as a fingerprint reader on a laptop, point of sales terminal or a boarding gate. The fingerprint information is then securely sent to the SIM card over the air and matched inside the secure environment of the SIM card.
Jonas Andersson, VP of Business Development at Precise Biometrics will join the development team which will be demonstrating the solution at GSMA in Barcelona. He means that this is a great opportunity for Precise Biometrics to further show the mobile phone industry the advantages with Match-on-SIM.
- Last year when we participated in this contest we got a great deal of attention within the industry for our Precise Match-on-SIM™. By being one of the finalists again, we see that the industry has recognized our technology and we hope that the BioXpress concretizes the advantages that it offers.”
Precise Match-on-SIM™ in combination with contactless technology such as NFC is well positioned for serving the aviation industry when it comes to security, automated processes and passenger flow. The attraction lies in the use of the mobile phone, as most people already carry one and the whole application can be distributed over the air.
“This is a smart, value-adding solution for both the mobile and aviation industries”, says Jonas Andersson.
